Help with first build

On the motherboard you should fit the 4 pin connector off the PSU to the socket near
the top of the processor so motherboards need 8 pins, the big bunch of wires that are all cabled together that have 4
detachable pins goes on the mothboard and everything else only goes in 1 place.

The you have another 4 pins to go to the graphics card sometimes 8 pins then everything
else just goes in its usuall place to power the other devices up.

Might help if you show us some pictures m8 so we know exactly what you mean.

That makes no sense!

The power connectors on the motherboard should be a 24 pin socket somewhere on the right hand side, and a four or eight pin socket at the top for the CPU power. The cable for the 24 pin is usually split 20+4 for backwards compatability, and likewise the 8 pin CPU cable is usually split 4+4.

Don't turn the thing on till you're sure they're in the right place

Ok, what you're calling 12 pin is actually 24 pin, so that's ok (there are two rows:))

The four/eight pin socket you are looking for is right at the top of the motherboard about 1/5th of the way across from the left hand side.

Edit: after looking more carefully at your photos it looks like you've plugged the eight pin in there already, so the four pin is a spare for motherboards that only have a four pin connector.

I've connected the front panel headers and the 8+4 (12) pin from the psu (The only problem i might have with these is them being the wrong way around)

You can't really get the 24-pin power lead the wrong way round - there's a clip on one of the longer sides which should line up with the socket on the motherboard.

The only problem now is finding a 3 pin for the front fan as it doesn't seem to reach

You could use an extension (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-011-AK&groupid=1929&catid=153&subcat=) then plug it into a SYS_FAN on your motherboard.

Alternatively you could use an adapter (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-012-AK&groupid=1929&catid=153&subcat=) and plug it straight into the PSU (the fan would then constantly run at its maximum speed.)
