I'm running the following setup:
Intel E8600 (Corsair H50 cooling)
Asus Rampage Formula X48
4GB (2x2GB) GeIL Black Dragon DDR2 PC6400
W7 Home Premium 64bit
I have been reading/following various guides and also I know that an E8600 should, with decent cooling, easily hit 4.5Ghz - however I am failing to get higher than 4.05Ghz atm.
I can get Prim95 stable at 4.05Ghz:
CPU-Z Details (will try and upload images later)
Core Speed: 4049.7Mhz
FSB: 405
Multiplier: 10x
Rated FSB: 1620Mhz
Core Voltage: 1.240V
Core Temp (100% Load):
Core#0 - 47
Core#1 - 47
Core Temp say VID: 1.2500V - why is this different to CPU-Z?
I tried setting the FSB to 420 and consequently 410 but neither managed to get to desktop with windows crashing both times during startup and one resulting in BSOD.
I currently have the CPU Voltage set to auto in the BIOS because I am not entirely sure what voltage I should be setting - I know an E8600 should be able to hit 4.2 right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as the Rampage Formula's BIOS is fairly extensive and complicated!
Thanks!
