Help with full screen mode on ati4850

Hello,
I have just comnnected my pc to my lcd tv 42" via hdmi cable. I have a picture ok its just that it leaves about 6" either side of black borders. I want to get the output to fill the screen. I have tried changing resolution and that works on making the text smaller etc but the actual output is still not filling the screen?

Is your tv displaying the image in the wrong mode, have you tried changing it with tv remote? i.e 4:3 16:9 etc. Does your pc know that its connected to a tv? In display settings in the control panel has it got the correct resolution for your tv?

look for scaling in the ati control panel and set it to zero.
for some dumb reason it decides to automatically think u want to use a larger resolution and shrinks your display....on some lcd's

I also had to set my lcd to the right format... When HDMI was selected the aspect was wrong, but I went sideways on the input selection and it changed HDMI-DVD to HDMI-PC...

Silly me it was my tv set to 4:3 mode thanks everyone for the advice
