i have a HIS 5830 turbo and a duel moniter setup, playing COD MW2 my temps do not go over 66 degrees and they only get over 64 when play time goes over 20mins, but when i play HL2 and TF2 the temps hit 70 degrees after five minutes of playtime.
other usefull info:
i have a 700D
the card is in the bottom PCI-E slot
i have one 15" compaq moniter and one 22 moniter
all settings on all games are on full and very high
i use GPU-Z to moniter temps
so my question is:
is running games at these temps for over an hour dangerous and how can i prevent this and get the temps into 70's?

thanks all :)

Yeah, as far as cards go, the 5830 isnt the coolest.
Wouldnt be too worried.

Thing that baffles me is that the temps are higher on less gpu intensive games?

I'm going to guess that you're not using v-sync and the older games are running at quite high frame-rates and making the card hotter. I couldn't even guess what HL2 runs at on a modern card without v-sync. Could easily be 200-300 FPS.
