is there a big performance difference?

and also in battlefield the comparisons show the 680 outperforming the 7970.

This compares the two.

considering you are only playing at 1080p though, both cards get over 50fps on all the games (apart from crysis warhead where the 7970 beats the 680), so the difference isn't huge.

Battlefield DOES play better on the 680 (as it is optimised for Nvidia, just as some games are optimised for AMD), but when it's at over 50fps it doesn't make a noticeable difference.

the 3gb RAM of the 7970 is a more future proof than the 2gb of the 680.

the 7970 is a monster and beats the 680 6/10 times at 5760*1200 resolution.

ordered this in the end, thanks for help

Guys I'm sorry to bring up a day old thread and also to ask another question (however it is related, kinda) but I tried creating a thread, twice, and neither showed up.

This thread was really helpful but I have about an extra £200 to spend, and was wondering what you guys reccomend spending it on? I live in quite a hot country and have had 2 high-end cards burn out on me in the past few years, and I would quite like to prevent that happening to this one. So any thoughts on that would be great.
