hi all,

looking for a PC mainly for gaming, compiling code and general use.

Hoping to play games like bf3 (max settings), crysis 3 and new releases for 2013

I quite like the BitFenix Prodigy cases not sure how they are for cooling?

I'm thinking:

MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III OC V2 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Crysis 3 & Bioshock PC Games

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail

ASRock Z77E-ITX Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard

Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD120BW)

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 650W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020038-UK)

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD20EARX) HDD

BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Midnight Black

Corsair Vengeance RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9R)

Samsung SN-208DB/BEBE Slimline 8x DVD±RW SATA Drive - OEM

BitFenix Spectre PRO 140mm Blue LED - Black

What are your thoughts? i'll also need a Monitor, keyboard and mouse (quite like the Razor ones). Should i be getting a stand alone soundcard? or will that not fit in this case?

thanks.

board has good sound onboard, so not needed really, unless you really think a card would be better, looks ok, but small cases don't give the airflow of bigger ones, if you OC it, more heat as well, so will need some good fans with your bits in as well.

so unless you need a tiny box, for me i'd go bigger, but others here will disagree i'm guessing, so it's choice, i like less noise and heat when gaming, so cooler and more stable and a lot less noise etc, small case aren't known for quite builds, but never had one either so maybe wrong, wouldn't be the first or last time either tbh

unless you really want a small case i would have a look at something like the Corsair 300r and for the motherboard the Gigabyte z77x-Ud3h or msi z77 Mpower both of those will give you crossfire support if you want it later on. saying that if i was you i would wait for haswell to come out there isn't that much longer to wait. As for mice and keyboard i've got a corsair m60 and k90 and for me they're great really robust and quality stuff, If you want to just game on this pc i would suggest a Benq xl2411t if you wanted to do more movie watching web surfing a Dell U2412m.

Starting from the top...

GPU - Better cooling & UK RMA. The cooling on this would be ideal for that sized case
Mobo - Gigabyte you cannot go wrong with, you also get UK RMA
SSD - Basic model's write speeds are slow, Plextor is cheaper & quicker
PSU - XFX is more reliable than the Corsair ones, they are made my Seasonic, the daddy of PSU's.
RAM - Low profile & easy to overclock, the Samsung uses 30nm chips for low power consumption
OD: The slim line wont fit in this case, but you could think about getting an external one and using the 5.25" bay for a fan controller. The BitFenix Recon is a great choice allowing you to store multiple profiles depending on what you are doing
Monitor - Very slim bezel, great all-rounder.
Added a 230mm fan at the front because you can :D
Cooler - Up to you, but to increase airflow & space, I've added a closed loop cooler which would sit at the top or back as an exhaust.
Mouse & K/B - Personal choice. Mechanical or not??
