Hi everyone, i havnt done much with computers for a number of years and my laptop that i used to use for gaming just doesnt cut it anymore, i was using a samsung np300e5a laptop which ran most games on low settings but i would now like a computer that can run games on high/ultra for a price of around £400.

I have had a look around and decided on these parts:
Sapphire Radeon R7 240 Boost 2048MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Card #57845

AMD (Richland) A8-6600K 3.90GHz (4.20GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 Quad-Core Unlocked Processor #55738

ASUS FM2+ A88X-PLUS Motherboard #60269

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2 Quiet CPU Cooler #20729

GIGABYTE KM7580 Wireless Mouse & Keyboard Bundle #46192

TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter #52680

ARIAnet Goblin Mesh Midi Tower Gaming Case #59672

120GB Mushkin Chronos 2.5" 7mm SATA 6GB/s (SATA-III) Solid State Drive #59734

120mm Cooler Master SickleFlow Green LED 3-Pin Fan #50011

I already have a 1tb samsung sata hdd, 2 x sata cd rw drive and a 700w win power adk 700 power supply.
the total cost of all these parts comes to £362 from www.****.co.uk
the # number after each item is the product code from ****

Would these parts all be compatable and would it be a good enougth set up to run games such as Diablo 3 and Call of Duty Ghosts on high/ultra

you aren't permitted to post comptetitor's links on this forum, as OCuk has their own shop.
Can you find the parts you've already found on the ocuk.co.uk site, and post the links here, so we can see what you've found.

Also, the R7 240 graphics card is really a joke. To run at high/ultra settings at 60fps @1080p, you'd need to buy a graphics card around the £170+ mark, and the total system would cost well over £400 (think £700-£800 minimum)

You either need to adjust your budget or your expectations.

I'll give you time to respond now, because you definitely won't be able to get what you want for how much you want, unfortunately.

Ok, at least I know not to buy them parts then, what sort of setup would you recommend for playing diablo 3 on high settings?

Actually, Diablo 3 isn't a heavy game at all, so you'd get away with running it from an R7 250X from what i've read, which costs about £75 (and you get a free game!)

Call of Duty ghosts is a different story, and would need a R9 270X to run on high/ultra, which costs £150 (with 2 free games).

My initial claim of £170+ was when i was thinking of new AAA titles, fortunately the 2 games you've mentioned aren't quite as demanding.
