I have a Canon 20d with the Canon 10-22mm Lens. This was taken at a valentines lunch today with my wide angled lens and you get this effect because the camera is in the way of the standard flash....

Whats the best flash for me to get that doesnt cost the earth? Do they have there own batteries or do they run off the camera?

Cheers

Flashes mainly take AA batteries, get some nice rechargeable and your sorted.

The only way to solve the problem in that pic is by bouncing the flash, at 10mm (16mm) even the best flashes wont cover that.

If you had a flash gun (430EX, 550EX, 580EX etc) and fitted something like a Sto-Fen bouncer then fired it while aimed straight up, it probably would have turned out a lot better.
