As I will show below, I have similar components to the deal posted here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18692676

I have had endless issues pretty much since I have got the parts and after seeing this deal and the settings in the forum, I switched my RAM to a one I have seen tried and tested. However I consistently Blue Screen.

8 Pack, could you please give me some suggestions on where I can try to resolve my problem. I apologise if this is not a typical ask 8 Pack post, but you've successfully run a build similar to this and I'm hoping you can help me.

Components
Asus Z170 Maximum VIII Hero Motherboard
Skylake i7 6700K
Panram Ninja 16GB DDR4 3000MHz
Noctua NH-D15

I have a set of: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB

The Blue Screens are not always the same.
A change in CPU/RAM timings/voltages alter the error displayed. (I have tried lowering the settings that are in the link I mentioned)

This did work for 3 weeks, before giving in.
First set of Corsair RAM had errors in memtest and I had this replaced.
Second set no errors but no successful boot.
Ninja RAM is the same.
I have switched out an old Corsair PSU and replaced with a new EVEA 650W.
I have had my Motherboard RMA'd as well.
I have tried without my graphics card.
I have tried with multiple ssd / hdd.
I have tried windows 7 and 10.
I've tried each BIOS version, 1202 and 1302
The only thing I have not switched out so far is my CPU. Writing this is making me think that my CPU could actually be at fault as it's the last thing to replace.

I've trawled forums endlessly after being advised to google for timings when I had my RAM RMA'd as the Corsair RAM was too fast to run at stock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. if it is a RMA request to OC then I'd like to say I've tried multiple more settings.

The most common blue screen error, irql_not_less_or_equal & attempted_write_to_readonly_memory.

Have you tried everything on stock/CMOS reset? Also what is the latest BSOD code you got.

Stock didn't work for my Corsair RAM and doesn't work for my Ninja Ram either. Stock just black screens after initial page, then as it goes to start to install windows, it restarts.

On the first motherboard and new motherboard, as far as I can see there are no bent pins. (Apologies I appear to have missed that on the OP)

Does it work with all the stock options? There are a number of buggy errors in windows 10 so its helpful to know - if you were getting things like DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION go to power settings, disable fast startup, sleep and hibernate. That will fix it.

But yeah, does it work at the stock 4.0ghz and have you got all the sliders on the motherboard in the right place (XMP enabled etc)?

The second motherboard, cmos battery out and back in, ram in a2 and b2. (Taking this as stock) Doesn't boot.
XMP enabled Doesnt boot or blue screens.
Manual setting ram to my rams timings with voltages 1.2 or 1.35. Blue screens.
I've tried working my way up from 1500 to 3000. T1 and t2. Same issues
Exact settings as posted in the linked thread. Blue screens or black screens reboot.

I have tried to disable fast boot, which hasn't worked in the different combinations. Sleep and hibernate, is that in bios? I can't remember seeing it but can take a look in the morning.

Same issues occur for Windows 7 and 10.

Probably have but just in case... Have you tried turning it on and hitting the MEM_OK button by the RAM? When I had issues that got me in to the BIOS where I just hit XMP and it found the right RAM profile and booted fine. When you hit that it will reboot on its own and then start up, solved the same issue for me before if you've not tried it - always head back to bios when it boots and you should be able so see the memory speed. I've got virtually the same kit as you and mine booted originally at about 2000 but using XMP immediately ran at 3,000 perfectly fine (make sure the xmp switch is enabled and just hit xmp in the AI Tweaker screen to tune the memory.

The power options are directly in windows, if you can get in i'd also suggest also check your Win10 version - go to run and type in winver, 1511 is the latest one, some of the older ones like 10240 are proper ****. Thats if the issue is not the lack of boot/post though it might help with some BSODs.

For each of the options below I have had to hit the red button to clear the CMOS.

1 Initial to load at stock, power on, wait for the machine to say you need to set your BIOS settings, press F1, save and restart. Motherboard shows a number and stops.

2 After saving the bios, pressing the memok button. Motherboard show a number and stops.

3 Enable XMP and say no to the pop up box, save & restart. Motherboard shows a number and stops.

4 Enable XMP and say no to the pop up box, save and restart, press MemOK. Asus logo appears, then a black information screen telling my memory succeeded and to load bios to save. Save and restart. Motherboard shows a number and stops.

I can't get to the OS. I can't even load the Win7 from disc or Win10 from usb.

The numbers my motherboard shows are 62, 78 or 79.

At this point i'm a bit lost as to what was working and what you changed and when it stopped booting... Sounds like you've got a bit of a mess of parts and issues but i've got the Z170 Deluxe and 6700k which have no problems with the corsair RAM in XMP at 3000mhz. It also booted default at 2133 fine, hopefully you've resolved it now though...

I understand, there is lots of to and fro, I'll try and put in a clear point here.

I got a new rig in October, 6700k, asus hero viii and corsair vengeance ram.

I installed the whole lot, which along side my old 7800HD, corsair PSU, and Samsung SSD.

I played counterstrike source for 2 weeks. I then installed Battlefield 3, after 10 minutes or so, the computer blue screened. The errors were irql_not_less_or_equal & attempted_write_to_readonly_memory.

I ran a memtest, memtest had errors instantly.
I had my memory RMA'd, the new Memory arrived and I continued to blue screen.
I contacted OC and they advised I needed to use my ram timings and use the internet to find out how to tweak settings to get this to work. Starting at low frequency and working my way up until it blue screens and then I know where my limit is for my machine.
2133 seemed to work for a few days, then my machine started to blue screen again.
I tried my girlfriends nvidea card, same issues. Even tried HD into my TV to use the motherboard, same issues.
I replaced my PSU, as some people had said faulty PSU can cause similar issues, but I continued to have the same problems.
I contacted OC again and they agreed it seemed my Motherboard could be an issue. After returning it, they replaced it. I continued to get the same issues.
As all of my Blue Screens, forums I had read and OC advising there have been issues with RAM on the Z170 chipset, when I seen 8Packs deal, it gave me the feeling that, well this RAM works with this chip and board, with settings that actually work.
I tried the Ninja RAM and my issue persisted.

I had found out towards the end of December, that there had been issues with the drivers for the ATI graphics card causing it to run at 10% fan speed, even under load and then shutting down because of overheating. -- Maybe I had this problem?

I have tried so many settings in the BIOS to try and get this to work.

Stock, disabling fast boot, manually setting my timings and working up the frequencies, XMP, XMP with modified timings, upping the VCCIO and SA.

I am just at a loss now as to what my problem is. I can't get into Windows at all.

Yeah, the one thing I haven't switched out in the entire build is the CPU. Will give that a shot to see if it works. I can't remember the lowest frequency I had tried.

Memory at 1600MHz didn't work.
Reset the CMOS, set to 1600Mhz, motherboard errors with 79 error code again.

I've spoken with OC and they've agreed to refund me on my motherboard so I can choose a different one. Hopefully that will end the issues. Just frustrating how the same RAM, Motherboard and Chip in 8Packs deal doesn't work. The same Ram as Smffy and it doesn't work.

If all the components were bought from Overclockers i would have RMA'ed everything in one go to remove any chance of a previous competent being the culprit.
