I am having issues with my Gigabyte 7850 OC windforce crashing everytime i game / load the card. I can crash the card at will using heaven benchmark and have done so in my current i5 rig and my old amd rig.

Card was installed and a fresh install of win 7 was used along with stable drivers. Card has latest bios from gigabyte. Psu is 700w coolermaster and i have tried testing the card both horizontal and vertical.

I really don't know what to do with this card, I'm sure it's faulty but after being tested twice by the supplier they assure me it ran fine with no problems.

Here is a summary of the testing they did:
**** diagnosis ran 4 instances of the HDR Lighting test at the same time, as well as prime 95 to stress the system. no issues.

**** diagnosis Tested at 1920 x 1200 running Heaven benchmark on highest settings for approx 1 hour. The ran Heaven in window mode along with ATITool for approx 30 mins followed by the AMD Leo Demo for approx 1 hour. No problems.

so they send me it back, i do a wipe of all drivers and install 12.11 which have been released while the card has been away and bang same thing.

here is a video of a typical crash taken tonight (apologies for the bad lighting and skip to 2:50)

and here is a gpu-z log at the time:

I'm really at my wits end with this and looks like i'm going to buy another card i cant really afford just to try and put the stress this is causing me behind me, It makes me feel sick to think i have pretty much thrown away £180!

If anyone could suggest anything else to try i would be grateful

Thanks in advance!

Try different drivers like the 12.10 and 12.11 beta also put the fan to manual 100% in ccc also in ccc put the power slider if it has one to +10%
also try underclocking the card slightly like try 950 mhz instead of 975mhz if it doesnt crash in heaven at 950mhz there is your answer it cannot do it's default clocks on it's default voltage and is therefore faulty

which driver version are you using ?

Ive just RMA the same card artifacting on boot up.

Id rather buy from OCUK as you get 4 games free with this card, if its still under 28 days old or what ever send it back and ask for money back?

Thanks for the responses, unfortunately i have had the card a couple of months before realising the issue so they will not refund me.

I am currently on 12.11, and have previously tried 12.8 or 9 can't remember which now, i had tried underclocking card, putting power slider to full before sending the card away the first time (sorry forgot to mention that)

If its still doing this and your not happy send it away and ask for a full test to be done or ask to speak to a manager, you have proof with the vid so get more proof.

You have 3 years warranty with this card, they have to fix or replace it!

Hi,

Yes i tried it in 2 systems i own, an amd quad core and my intel i5 quad core, same result in both.

I wish it was as easy as sending it back and demanding a replacement but when they test it and say its ok i'm left in a postion of having no card and having to pay for them to return the card to me

going to try it in a q6600 system later today and film it again, i figure filming it crash in 3 different systems should be more then enough proof but we'll see.

I have the same problem as you with the exact same card!

After tearing my hair out for 5 days trying everything to get the card to work I have sent it back hopefully for a refund.

There has been lots of reports of people sending them back for testing and the suppliers have said there is no problem with them, i'm dreading having to go down that route
