just started build. amd quadcore.

the stock heatsink doesnt seem to be going on smoothly like in videos i have seen.already worried i may have used to much pressure. no matter what i do i just cant get it to clip on both sides. what shall i do. someone please help.
has anybody else had this problem. I have already lifted it off and tried changing sides. is the thermal paste knackered? Please someone help.:(

attach one side, then just push the other clip over the plastic stab, and push the lever over.

its meant to feel "tight"

as stulid said, one side should have a lever and the other side not, put the other side on first, then the levered side, fold the lever over to lock it on the tab in place :), dont think you can apply too much pressure :)

hi stulid. I was hoping you would be around thanks.

Is it meant to be THAT tight. I mean its requiring quite abit more force than any video I
have seen. is there a right side or does it not matter as long as the fan cable fits and is there a chance of damaging the cpu

it can go on either side, the only thing to check is the metal part of the clip is actually under/in the grove of the plastic tabs that stick out of the socket.

thanks stulid and seraph, you guys are lifesavers.

the block of grey metal on the mobo, what is that? is it some sort of heatsink cuz i accidentally put pressure on it and it slightly moves :-/ Hope i havent knackered anything.

sound like a heatsink for the VRM's, it will move alittle because its held down with spring loaded screws.

thanks to all who posted.hats off to you stulid. I can breath now although most of my hair just fell out :-).

I think I will put the ram in and go to bed. has been a bit of a disaster so far.thanks again guys and I will keep you all posted tomorrow. Cheers and goodnight.

hi guys and gals

my head is gone so i need a little help.where does that tiny speaker on a wire that came with the case fit onto. is it optional or what?

Thanks in advance you guys are the best

It connects onto your motherboard. There will be a couple of pins for it in the same location as your Power Switch, Power LED, Reset switch, HDD LED etc.

Connection is optional and I don't connect mine.

I think i seriously underestimated how long this build was going to take! Anyway i'm nearly getting there.

Where does the rear fan connector fit into as I cant seem to find where on the mobo it fits.

Thanks again

either in a SYS_FAN header on the board, or if it's also got a molex socket connect it direct to psu cable.

cheers stulid,your something else buddy.

on the power supply the only lead that fits the molex connector is labelled hdd. Is it ok to fit it to that?

thanks

yes, if its labelled, HDD, CD or something else, they are all 4pin molex connectors, just stick it in.

Ahhh, you should have been around for some of the old heatsinks - you had to crowbar them on with a flat head screwdriver - if you slipped, au revoir motherboard!
