Hi all,

I have a simple home network, one PC and one Laptop. The problem at the moment is that if I try and connect to my PC via the Laptop is says "permission denied". Yet if I use the PC to the Laptop, I can connect fine. :)

I have ran the Network Wizard tool on both the Laptop and PC and restarted both machines, is there anything else I can check? Windows firewalls are configured ok, and the Router and the machines both have UPnP enabled.

Another little problem, is although I can connect to the Laptop via the PC as stated above, it takes a good 30 sec - 1 min for the window to appear. Can this be speeded up? I seem to remember perhaps a Reg key can be delelted which speeds up Network connection?

Thanks for any pointers!

Is the Guest account enabled on both PCs?

If it is and it still won't work, try opening My Computer (or any explorer window) and go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View, then at the bottom untick "Use Simple File Sharing". This will then prompt you for a username/password when you try to access shares on the other computer, for which you just have to use the details of an account on the host pc.

you dont need to mess around with accounts

anyway

try disabling all firewalls

see if you can ping the pc from the laptop

are you both on the same workgroup yea?
