Ive recently purchased my first computer, ive learnt which parts are what and everything here is the build ** No Competitors **
My only problem is i have no idea what to purchase for a wired connection? My pc will be in my bedroom upstairs, and our router is downstairs in the living room, we are on virgin. And its laggy most times. So how would i go about doing this?

Do you mean you're on a wireless connection...and you want to use Ethernet ?

Also you will need to remove the competitor links :)
Yeah sorry mate thats what i meant lol, im on a wireless connection, but people are telling me id be better off with a wired connection, and dont know what to purchase

Assuming that your router has RJ45 (Ethernet) ports empty and you have installed your motherboard drivers you should just need to head over to here and pick a cable that is long enough to reach between the two devices. Your motherboard supports Gigabit/s networking so Cat 5e cable is appropriate (Cat 6 supports greater speeds but is generally less flexible due to shielding and is backwards compatible with Cat 5e etc).

Just make sure the description on the page for the part you pick says something along the lines of "connect your computer to your router/switch" rather than "to directly connect 2 computers together" just incase your router doesn't support adaptive cable topologies.
Right so just buy a cable that will fit from my router to my pc?

That should be all you need to do hardware wise. Like I say it's worth checking your router has wired ports available (unusual not to have them but still).
I think im gunna need a longer cable mate, my bedroom is on the opposite side of the house to the router lol,

You reckon its worth getting another router installed? Will this give my Pc better performance than the one downstairs being so far away?

Ordered a couple of them 30 metre cable wire things lads, but my cousins just said i need a wall adapter so gunna give the wires a shot n see how the internet is, i also bought a box which i believe sits between the two wires to make them go longer? Not sure lol will see how it goes not the end of the world isit

What is the distance? You can buy a 100m reel, then chop it to size and use an rj45 crimp tool to make any sized cable you want.

Since it's cable without ends on it, you can drill 6mm holes through walls etc to hide it.
Or i could just do exactley that haha, will give this a shot first before i unbox the wires!

Blimey you must have one massive house. I've recently wired from router to upstairs bedroom. Although we went through ceiling and floorboards, I ordered 20M cat6 still got plenty spare.

4x5m bedroom. 4x5 livingroom.
I aint got a clue mate, id say its over 100 M to my bedroom, maybe... ill have to measure it, should have measured it first to be honest, just got overly excited about getting a pc!
