Help with I7 choice please

hi all I am looking at getting a new cpu and board,

First off what is better/ newer socket 1150 or 2011.
as I would like to buy the latest socket make things slightly more future proof

ok so as far as I understand the 1150 haswell is better for gaming am I right, but the 2011 seems a more powerful chip

• PC uses?
• What case do you have?
• Other components too?

what ever the best cpu costs with in reason.
Gaming / playing bluray files ect

SSD - 16gb ram - 680

hum I knew it would not be a simple ans, but if u could get a six cores+hyperthreading = 12 cores for example running 4.2 at the same speed as the other one 4.2 in theory it would be fast due to the amount of cores

so I take it then the 2011 socket chips will be fast than the 1150 clock for clock

ow right ok so the 1150 seems the better bet then, only reason I am asking is if I am going to be shelling out for a new cpu i7 range I would wont the best chip for the buck. so would u rather get a 1150 or 2011 chip

In that case I will probably stick with the I5 I have it the 1155 socket from a few years ago got that running at 4.4
