Help with Ibook G3 - Battery & P/lead

Hi all,

Still havingprobvs with a friends g3 ibook (dual USB) we bought a new power lead, but it still wont fire up at all...

1. Will the I book run without a battery? if so it wont fire up with 45w..

2. What watts does the Ibook G3 run on, 45w or 70w?


Thanks in advance for any advice... this mac's driving us mad... cant get info anywhere on the little a-rs-e burger of a machine.

You might want to complete star out the swearies, oh and "f ( with the e) ck" is considered a swear on these forums

Have you tried resetting the PRAM?

Have you tried asking for help on the mac support forums at apples support website they are full of often quite knowledgeable and talented individuals who can help...

This person sounds like they are having a similar issue if the PRAM reset fails they are suggesting a new logic board which makes sense. Are there any lights on at all?

ho hum shoot me.. i swore...

we gave up, the light on the power plug (where it plugs into the side of the mac) is on for about 10 seconds, then slowley fades away and wont come back on for about 30mins...

Its been decided, Macs are to much of a pain in the bum, information on them is pretty few and far between, and compared to windows peeps, mac users are pretty unhelpful tbh...**unkowndomain and Lorey being an exception** but they always insist that mac's are the best thing since sliced bread... pah... you cant even take em apart without almost breaking the casing... then theres the prices.. just ridiculous prices for spares and repars etc.. nothing like a pc.

I lent him my P4 3ghz laptop, and he's well happy now... finally i have converted him..
