The Phantom has a "better" cooler.

Whether or not it's the best part of £50 better...

It's also 2½ slots wide if that's a consideration.

The Golden Sample is a 2 slot card.

None majorly, i think the only real difference is the cooling and asthetics.

the "phantom" card will clearly overclock more than the "golden Sample" not to detract from the goldem sample as it's a nice card.

the Phantom has 3 fans below the grille to keep it super cool.........it looks stunning

There's no guarantee of this at all, just because it's got a "better" cooler on it does not necessarily mean it will overclock better.

Wow, thanks for the speedy replies folks!

I had actually read that the phantom appears to be restricted on the voltage front, so the "better" fan is only good up to a point; after that it seems fairly pointless. The height thing is a big concern in my case (MB I have from gigabyte is the most appalling layout ever).
I think between you you jst saved me £50

:)

cheers

Quick side question though...

I have 500W PSU currently and I'm a little behind on what needs what to run.... would that be considered man enough to run a 570?

thanks

Depends really, what is the make and model? If it's a quality brand that actually runs at its rated output then you should be fine. If however it's a fifteen quid i-cute special then you could run into some problems!

What's the rest of your system setup? How many hard drives, overclock on CPU etc.

3x sataII
qx6600 intel cpu - no overclock (faaar too chicken for such shenanegans)
Coolermaster "silent pro"

Probably too chicken to cook a new GFX card too!

thanks

That PSU should be fine. You might want to consider trying to get a little bit more out of your Q6600 as it'll bottleneck and prevent your shiny new video card from really spreading its wings. A 3GHz overclock is easily achievable (providing your board has the facilities) on just about every Q6600, even the older B3 stepping ones.
