I was hoping to get some help on improving the air cooling in my rig. I have a Thermaltake Shark case (I know, went on looks instead of cooling efficiency…) and lately it seems to be running a bit hot. Case is nearly 7 years old so could be fans are not running so good anymore. Unfortunately, I am limited by the case to a single “120x120x25mm, 1400rpm” front fan and the same again at the rear. That’s it…
So I see that Scythe’s get recommended a lot for fans, and I was thinking about one of these fan controller boxes that allows you to manually set fan speed. For circa £30 they sound good in principal. Are they worth it? Are all the brands compatible with different fans etc?
I was also looking at these double fan modules you can mount in your mobo, under your GPU for more cooling. As I am limited to 2 fans, would it be worth considering one of these?
If anyone could recommend me a couple of fans, controller box and any other ways to improve my cooling (that all work together) I would really appreciate the help.
PS. Are they simple enough for a total numpty like me to install?
