Help with internet cable

Hey,

I have Virgin Media. What is the best wired cable I can buy to make the most out of my internet? I bought a cable a long time ago which I put under my floorboards alongside my plumbing pipes. The last few months I've noticed my internet would randomly DC every few seconds whilst the heating was on. Is this because the cable is damaged by the heating?

My question is now I want to buy a new cable because I'm going to put down a new carpet in the next few weeks and didn't want to replace the cable once it's down.

What is the best cable I can buy for my Virgin Media hub? How do I check what my current cable is?

The coax in from outside or the Ethernet from the hub to the rest of the network?

If it's the Ethernet you don't anything better than a decent Cat5e UTP cable (or Cat6 if you prefer).

If it's viable leave a pull cord in place to allow the cable to be replaced later if needs be.
