Hoping for some advice as it's been a long time since I had an interview and I have one coming up for a junior programmer role. I've been working in IT Security for about 5 years but prior to that I did quite a lot of programming (c++ predominantly) during a PhD and I want to get back into it. I've applied for a job with a company that offers GIS/Mapping solutions as both an API and as a managed service.

I've been totally upfront about the fact I haven't written a line of code for a few years and they are cool with that but as part of the interview they have said there will be a test with a couple of programming questions and some maths questions.

Can anyone suggest what type of maths I might want to brush up on? I've done a lot of maths in the past but it's been a long time since I had to use it so I think a refresher would be a good idea!

If anyone can think of some obvious programming questions/topics to go over then that would be handy too (they use c#) although I realise that they have a lot to chose from.

Thanks in advance :)

For the most part, the maths will be in relation to whatever field the job is in. Programming tests tend to vary from 'write us a program that does this - you have 15 minutes' to the 'spot the error in this code' - it really depends on the interviewer.

Questions I used to get, was "We want to model this, how would you structure a data type to encapsulate this information, and relational schema etc etc..."

Thanks for the help guys, the interview went pretty well although the guy who interviewed me was really miserable and would be my boss so I don't think I'll be taking it (if I get offered it).
