The Voltage was set for 1.5v and it seamed to stay at that even after using the XMP profile.

I believe I caused it to happen, I was fitting a network card. I had the PC off but didnt pull out any of the cables (inc power lead) at the back of the PC.

Just out of curiosity, could that have caused the BIOS to go back to default settings?

I can't see how that would be the cause.

The BIOS loaded the defaults because it detected a problem with your current settings.

Save your current settings to a profile in the BIOS.

If the problem occurs again you can press F2 or Del to go into the BIOS and load the profile so you won't have to enter every setting again.

You'll then need to take a look at your settings.

Perhaps you need a bit more DRAM voltage?

Perhaps you need a bit more CPU Core Voltage?

It can be a matter of trial and error.

OK Thank you again. I'll see if I can save those settings then.

Thanks so much, really appreciate the help.

Hi folks,
would love to hear more on this,
I have the same ram (8gig 2x4) was thinking of another 2x4 to give me 16gig.
But bit worried after reading a lot of things about the voltage and 4 sticks filling all 4 slots may or may not give trouble

Any more thoughts ?

I also would like to know this as when i had my i5 i changed the freq to 1600hz and also overclocked i5 to 4.5ghz but was having crashing problems so when i got my SSD i just left everything at standard. W7 score drops on both CPU and memory from 7.7 to 7.5 and 7.8 to 7.6 respectivly.
