I have just brought a laptop, and i am thinking of buying a wirless modem/router.
I want to print to the main printer in the house from my laptop, will the wirless modem/router access my printer on the main pc, or does it just enable me to use the internet only on my laptop.

Hi

Only Internet, For your printer you will have to buy a wireless printer server.

Jay

If your printer is connected to a PC and that PC is turned on and also connected to the same router then you'll be able to share the printer and print to it from the laptop.

Im presuming he printer is attached to your desktop pc, If you are willing to turn your desktop pc on when you need to print /leave it turned on and you have a usb printer you can share the usb printer on the network, the easiest thing to do is leave your router by your desktop printer and connect this pc via and ethernet cable which you have to do to initially configure the router, then if you goto printers and faxes in control panel and right click the printer on your desktop machine and just goto sharing and set it up that way, its fairly easy, for a router i highly reccomend a netgear dg834. If you shop around there are some routers with usb print servers in but these do tend to be a little pricey, i no asus definetly do one but its aroud £170 apose to the netgear which is aroud £60 max now and is one of the easiest routers there is to use.
