A tough one for Mac users here. I have been using and building Pcs for a number of years but am increasingly annoyed by the way drivers never seem to work quite right and the way M$ makes life hard for those wth a Genuine copy so I thought I would at least try a Mac,

I have managed to beg / borrow a G4 Powermac (either AGP or PCI I don't know which) and am wondering if it is worth putting OS X on it given the hardware is rather old. It has 320MB system memory so I would probably have to increase that at some cost. What had intended was to get a new Mac Mini (when Leopard is out of course) and I am wondering if that might be a better use of cash.

Anyone out there using a G$ with OS X who could comment?

Thanks for any feedback.

Yeah you'll be OK with tiger - might not be as fast as those with 1Gb or 2Gb of ram but worth a play before you go and get a mac mini :)

I'm fast becoming a mac convert....

Tiger will run fine on it for office stuff, web browsing and the like. Things like Photoshop will struggle a fair bit, but general use will be fine. I bought my sister a G3 iMac a while ago with 384 meg of RAM and it runs really well in general use, not having to use Rosetta makes a big difference to the "comfortable RAM" requirements.

It will be fine I have tiger on a old g4 powerbook, try and get more memory though as it will struggle on less than 512k
