Help with making images load in order

I have a verrrrrrry simples html website and I have say 20+ images in a horizontal div all following each other.

What can I use to make the images load in order of first to last.

Well its simple but I dont mind using javascript. I just meant its a several page template html page with horizontal scroll bar showing my photography.

No its not a carousel.
Its just using either script to tell the page to load images in a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc order.

A horizontal layout works well for portfolios in particular I think.
Just MAKE sure you remap the vertical scroll so it scrolls horizontally.

This is exactly what I am trying to achieve. They really do work well for portfolios. I have had flash and java websites for years and to be honest no one really enjoys using them to take in the full impact of an image (myself included) but I find these simple hoz websites just scream images to me and thats all I am bothered about, content.

How do you remap the scroll wheel?
