Im currently waiting for my line to be activated by Be so I thought Id check my wireing out on my Master Socket as stated on DSL Zone http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php

In that site it says you only need 2 wires in slots 2 and 5, and to pull out all others as they are not needed.

However, on mine I only have one wire in slot 3??

Should I call BT?

I also plugged cable in socket under face plate (noticed that has 2 wires conected to that) and my attanible rate has shot up from 8600 ish to 11328. The Attenuation (dB) has stayed the same.

The rest of my specks is here

Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 30.3
Attenuation (dB) : 27.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 11328

On the rear of the socket you will have two wires A and B.. this is the line to the home and is BT's property (so don't touch)

However, the other wires connected (to the removable faceplate) are for extensions. It sounds like you're running an extension off terminal 3 instead of 2 and 5.

My advise is unless there's a definitive problem then don't go pulling wires out! If you want.. go check your extensions and make sure you have the same colour wire in terminal 3 (if you do you at least can say you have consistency).

Typically speaking you want terminal 2 connected to the blue, and 5 to the white blue wire.. the rest disconnected :)

Try removing the faceplate, and then (using a filter) plug directly in to the test socket underneath. Now check your stats.. this will bypass the extension wiring completely, so you should soon see if it's causing any problems
