Core 2 duo Q6600 running at stock speeds
Asus p5K Premium
OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 1066 MHZ
Nvidia 8800 GTX

i now relize that i didnt really need 1066mhz memory as i am running everything on stock and not overclocking. In the Asus p5k bios there is a option to enable support for 1066 mhz memory i enabled this option should i of done this?

even though this memory is 1066 MHZ will it underclock to 800 mhz? and if it does i should be able to lower the timings ? anyone got the timings i should use?

You can select the DDR2 speed from the BIOS. This will make the memory Asyncronous so you don't have to change the speed of the CPU.

Select the memory speed nearest 1066MHz. Setting it to 1066MHz, for example, makes the divider 2/4.

(266 / 2) x 4 = 533.333 x 2 = 1066.666

If you select 533MHz, this will run the memory syncronously

i.e. 266 * 2 = 533MHz
