Hi all,

Looking to build my ex a minimum spec PC. She's currently struggling with an archaic Pentium 4 that she inherited. Needless to say it takes about an hour for it to open a document, let alone display websites.

Cost is the key element - difficult to name a budget, other than to say that it must be absolute bare minimum. Like ridiculously low! She needs nothing fancy, just a minimum spec machine that can do word processing and browsing. That said, our 8 year old lad lives with her, and loves PC gaming, so if we can squeeze a basic graphics card in, great - but it is not essential.

She needs a monitor, but I can prob try and get a second hand 22 incher off fleabay - A new one would prob take the budget into unaffordable range.

No OS required - have Win7 I can put on it.

Any input most appreciated!

Thanks for the replies - much appreciated.

Gaming, like the budget, would be very minimal. I'd say something capable of running a few low spec games. He's 8, so he ain't gonna be play Crysis any time soon!

Power supply is important - I see there is some debate! Frying my ex isn't such a bad idea, but I'd like to keep my son safe from dodgy power supplies!

The fact that I'm seeing prices around £250 - £300 is great. I figure thats all she'd have to spend.
