Next to the ketchup...
Right I played WoW for about 6 months and throughly enjoyed it till i got to lvl 50 and then it just became a grind, and i stopped playing at lvl 54.

So what i'm looking for is a new MMO to play, I have played Guild Wars and enjoyed it but its not a game i will keep going back to. EVE online just seemed to be a bit to slow for me.

So anyone got any ideas on a new MMO for me? Any new ones coming out soon I should wait for?

There is a lord of the rings, startrek, X Online, and another big one I forget on the way. Not sure how long they'll be though.

Out of the current lot I've started Eve after Galaxies was killed :(

I've had a crack at most, and whilst I got bored of wow very quickly I've just started playing everquest 2, and if you have a decent enough rig its a very nice looking mmorpg. I'm impressed how easy it is to get started too!

Either that or City of Heroes/Villains come highly recommended :)

I'd recommend EQ2, I played this game on release for a few months then cancelled and moved onto WoW. Months later I've gone back and it is brilliant. It has been improved continously. If you get yourself into a decent guild it's excellent. But it is also much more solo friendly than it used to to be.

I also like City of Heroes/Villians. It's very addictive, I'd almost describe it as an action mmo lite. It isn't as complicated, and doesn't have the depth of some of the other games out there, but it is great fun.

As for future stuff. I've got my eye on Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. It's currently in development with a release date sometime 2006. It's being made by some of the people who worked on the original EQ and looks very good. I'm interested in the concept of a large seamless world and player made towns/cities (As an ex SWG player I think this could be cool). anyway a link for this game:

Went back to City of Heroes a little while ago and although i did enjoy it I need something with a bit more depth. Think I might have to have a look at everquest soon, anyone know of a free tiral anywhere??

Been tempted just to go back to WoW and finally get to lvl 60 and actually enjoy some of the end game content.

Rising Force Online is in beta at the moment, due to go live around the end of February. Basically it's Lineage 2 with stompy robots and laser guns, which means it has most of the pros and cons of Lineage 2: decent graphics, organised PvP events, guilds, scantily clad elves with long ears :), farmers :( and lots of grinding to level up :(.

If you can't grind WOW to 60 then I don't know what to suggest. WOW is probably one of the quickest and easiest MMO's there to grind.

All MMO are pretty much the same. If you want one without grind you wont really find one. The ones without the grind like Guild Wars become dull pretty quickly. If you can get in a good guild or with a few friends i would stick with WoW tbh.

With WoW your best trying to mix up instances, quests, and battlegrounds for xp. The big problems with WoW, for me, is the community is terrible, so unless your in a good guild or with mates it does get annoying. Also take your time getting to 60 and enjoy it, rush it and you'll wish you had'nt.

Aye, once you get to 60 and are in a guild that's doing 40 man raids to MC etc... you will start to love it again!

As somone else said if you can't grind in WoW then you may have problems with other games. EQ2 is more of a grind that WoW and will take substantually longer to reach level 60 than WoW would, I would say it's not as fun as well (I play it as i've got a group of friends I've known since adam which makes it for me the best game in the world)

Guild Wars is good for a bit of fun, maybe try playing a bit of both and niping into WoW when the feeling takes you? WoW does change when you reach level 60, from what I've seen people go raiding and spend their time doing that or the raiding does not take their fancy and they play a twink or another game, sadly like most MMOs theres nothing to do when you reach top level cept for raid or twink.

I would suggest trying Eve again, but getting into a good active corporation. It totally changes the game. If you spend the game doing missions, mining and trading you'll be bored to tears in no time.

Yep, being in a PVP corp in EVE will open a lot more of the game. IMO it is the best MMO but requires either a lot of time or a really good UK PVP corp. I was in a US corp and it is annoying when you go to bed when they all come online.

Just stay away from Star Wars Galaxies - Its dying.
thats putting it mildly, its pretty much commited suicide with the nge, even if the nge wasnt the reason behind people leaving....the lack of players is slowly driving more away. i remember the days when you couldnt move without running into people on popular planets, these days your lucky to get groups for quests, and even less for pvp

Another vote for eve-online here, there are several uk based corps operating out of the ocuk forums, you have OCUK, STK and D-F-C (for which im the CEO)

If you have the time and a dedication, i cant fault eve.

A large proportion of the people that left SWG ahve join up on eve, since the patch that ruined SWG the active subscribers on eve has lept to 100k and there are nearly always 15k people online in the single universe.

EQ is till the ultimate MMO, been around since 1998, 10 expansions, still 200k players and the game is very very deep. Even if your new there are loads of things to keep you occuipied and always people to group and level up with.

Been playing it since 2000 here :P, if you want to play a fantasy based MMO with its own unique ruleset, you can really get your teeth into Everquest. The Everquest titanium pack which has the game and 10 expansions, just got released and its only 20 quid :P

And yes they charge a monthly subscription fee of like 14 dollars to play.
