hi all, myself and a work m8 currently run a succesfull website (work related) with a good number of hits (www.bluewatchskegness.co.uk

to gain more hits we want to add more domain names to it.

im currently with Hosting Unlimited, and happy to stay, but its been suggested to try get more from 123-reg.co.uk, as they are cheaper

if i go ahead and purchase more, how do i link these new ones to my site??

do i use the cpanel, if so how?

any help appreciated

Just so I know exactly what it is you want to do:

You have a website at www.bluewatchskegness.co.uk
You want to buy some more domain names and have them all going to the same site.
Example:

www.wibbble.com
www.wobble.com
www.whateveryoulike.com

If anybody were to type any of the above addresses into their browser they would be taken to your site at www.bluewatchskegness.co.uk?

In this case all you need is "Web Forwarding".
I can confirm that 123-reg offer you this facility free of charge.
Once you've registered your new domain you log into the 123-reg Control Panel and go to Web Forwarding.
You are then asked for the URL for the site you wish to forward your domain to - simply enter www.bluewatchskegness.co.uk

No. Don't use Web Forwarding. It'll break search engines to hell and back on a good day :)

Register the domain, set the nameservers as instructed by your host, and through cPanel create an add-on domain for each domain and within its folder put a .htaccess file...

Code:
Redirect 301 / http://www.yourprimarydomain.com

Aside from all this, I'm not really sure how more domains = more hits.....

many people are familiar with the bluewatch addy, but now the rest of the station want to jump on board, so its only fair we add more domain names to link to 'our site' or change the whole addy to something like 'ourstation.co.uk'

its not so much about more hits, but 'keeping others happy!'

hi m8, is it much work to alter things to get it to work in firefox??

go steady if its a technical reply lol

and what do you mean "and no-content redirects, after a few, will probably incur ranking penalties as it is classed as spam"
