Help with Motherboard/GPU Compatibilty?

Hi I have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P Rev 5.1 Motherboard with the latest BIOS of F4b which was released in 2013 and I was going to buy a KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. Would the GPU work? Thanks for any help given.

Yes it will... only question is if GTX 970 wont be slowed down by CPU. What CPU do You have?

I was going to buy a AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320E Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor

That processor is a decent enough match for a GTX970 IMO. You can always OC the 8320 too.

In fact does anyone have any advice on upgrades to my 8gb RAM that would be Compatible with my motherboard. Also would upgrading my RAM to 16GB make much difference to my gaming FPS or should my previous combination of GPU and CPU be enough?

8gb is still adequate. Your pennies are better spent on the GPU and CPU.

I never run out with 8GB, its fine for gaming.

The only time I've ever run out of RAM gaming is the memory leak that occurred on BF4 that after a short period of play the game would start stuttering and looking in task manager, it was using 8GB of RAM, but no specific Process was using anywhere near that much!
