I'm having an issue with this board and cpu and I'm wondering if anyone can help.

I have set up the board with an O/C to 4.6Ghz and all is good apart from my memory. No matter what I do I cannot get it to stay running at 1600Mhz. The XMP profile in the bios is greyed out and cannot be selected for some reason. I can select it if I use the O/C Genie but this is pretty useless at overclocking and only manages 4.2Ghz without crashing.
If I manually set the memory to 1600Mhz it shows in CPU-Z as 800Mhz which is good but when I restart the motherboard resets the memory to 667Mhz for some reason. The only way to get it back to 800Mhz is to reset it in the bios again.

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue or has any ideas on how to fix. My memory is 16GB 4x4GB Kingston Hyper X grey 1600Mhz. It ran fine at 1600Mhz XMP on my Z68 board ?

Cheers

is that using latest msi bios?

Yes according to the update tool it's the latest. Tbh I might try an older bios as I have found a guide someone has posted online with a 4.5Ghz overclock with 2500K and they can select the XMP profile.

Unless the board does not like my Ram ?

somethings up if x.m.p is locked out,can only be a bios issue/compatibility imo

check on the website just incase the update tool is wrong

I give up with motherboards......

Going to try a different bios and see what that does. I should have just bought another Gigabyte.

All sorted just flashed the 10.5 bios and XMP can now be selected and memory is running at 1600 and my CPU overclock is all working ok. It needs a bit more voltage than my Gigabyte to run 4.6Ghz stable but tbh I'm happy it's working now.

Seems the newer bios's do not allow XMP ram profiles for some reason ?
