Looking to upgrade the gaming rig, need comments, suggestions or alternatives for the parts I need...

Looking at...

Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3
Corsair H50 Watercooler
Corsair Vengeance 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

Need advice on which Socket 1155 CPU to get?

Any help is mucho appreciated.

I presume its a gaming PC? if so a 2500K is where its at - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-360-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1275

you could save a few quid with the OEM version of the CPU as you are fitting a aftermarket cooler anyway, but you get a full 3 years warranty with the retail package.

Is it only the 'k' series Sandybrigdes that can be overclocked?

The retail version comes with a free game at the moment so you could sell the game (which is a band new game, released yesterday) to recover the costs, probably end up making it cheaper, and you get the extra warranty

retail 2500K, 3 year warranty, just for that, worth the money.
