I've got £750 to spend, but need a monitor and OS. So far I have come up with:

I'm especially unsure about the graphics card and the monitor.

Also would it be better to buy a case which comes with a PSU? e.g sonataII..

Any suggestions for saving money/ better components would be much appreciated!

I would stick with the psu you chose, its meant to be bloody brilliant,
I see what you are saying about the gfx and monitor though, could you not go a little cheaper on your case put it towards the gfx and monitor? quite a few good cases for around £40-50 now

*edit* Actually thinking about it, i would go for a cheaper psu, aslong as you go for a name brand you should be ok, if you cut down on the case too this will give you around £60-80 more to play with

it would probably have to be an 8800 if you ask me but these are a little overbudget and i admit that i am a bit of an nvidia fanboi so if anyone could suggest a nice ati card that fits in for about £150-£160 that would be great

If you can invest the little extra to get an aftermarket cooler (Noctua NH-U12F) would be a bonus.

EDIT *Also, you could get a cheaper CPU and buy a better graphics card depending on your needs :) *

Thanks again for the responses.

I won't be overclocking at first, but im sure I will a few months down the line.

I see you've changed the RAM - I thought the RAM on offer was better?

With the motherboard, is the gigabyte better than the asus?

Also i've heard that vista basic has quite a few features removed?

I like the new choice of the monitor tho!

[EDIT] I think you're right about the CPU. What CPU would you recommend then? What do you think of the Intel Core 2 Duo E4400? also, how does the e6300 and the e6320 differ?

If your looking to overclock down the line the Ballistix is excellent for overclocking. The GeIL is also good and has a very good price but i would prefer some Ballistix due to quality of RMA process if ever needed and overclocking potential. Also another alternative to the DS3 is the Asus P5N-E it all depends on preference as both are similar in price. If your looking to future proof then i would go with 64 bit vista.

I see you have both chosen the X1950 graphics card over the 8600...are they both DX10 - as I heard that is the way to go.

I like the new case tho!

Regarding CPU's - is the E6300 much better than the E4400?
