Help With My First Overclocking

Hi all,

So im looking at overclocking my CPU for the very first time. I built my own gaming rig late 2014. I have been happy with the system until early last year when i got a new 4k monitor. I had to upgrade my graphics card to get decent fps in 4k. The original system had a single GTX 970 and in the middle of last year i swapped it out for dual GTX 980ti.

The system has been running well but on some newer games im not reaching a stable 60fps in 4K. Also on a side note my case recently got bashed with a chair while moving some furnitcher around and now has a dint in one side and the usb on the front no longer work.

So i have decide to spend some money and buy a new case and double my ram, currently i have 16GB DDR4 2800mhz. But with the new case and extra ram i want to overclock my cpu to help get more fps in my games.

So i could use some help and guidance, as i have never attempted this before. Let me list the important hardware that could effect the overlock.

Mother Board: Gigabyte X99-Gaming 5
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.30GHz (6 cores, 12 threads, 15mb cache)
RAM: Corsair 16GB (4x4GB, DDR4 2800MHz) soon to be 32Gb (8x4GB)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i Hydro
PSU: Corsair RMX 850W

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64bit and my bios is the most up to date. can anyone offer me some help with the overclocking?

ok so i have tried to follow some guides that others have done with my cpu and motherboard. these are the settings i did;

CPU Base Clock: 100.00MHz
CPU Clock Ratio: 40
Uncore Ratio: 33
C6/C7 State Support: Disable
CPU VRIN: 1.800v
CPU Vcore: 1.11v
CPU Ring: 1.060v

after i apply these settings i cant boot. but others with the same motherboard and cpu these settings work for them, so im not sure whats wrong.

1.25 - 1.3 Vcore should be good. Mine is i7 4790K so not the same but i'm running with something around these Vcores. 1.1 Sounds like stock default.
