Hi all

I just got Crysis which I am running on a 7800GTX 256MB, AMD 4000, 2GB Ram. I can only run it on low and want to be able to run it on very high. I dont have much money but am wondering if there is any point in me upgrading my gfx card and what card would you recommend. Any help would be great guys.

Thanks Mike

You won't get it "playable" on "very high" for a good while yet. The developers delibarately designed the game to be too stressful for current hardware to run well with everything maxed out (at a decent resolution).

If only they would fix dual video cards and multiple CPU cores, it would help no end :(

The game is bloody crippled.

i recently got a 24 inch monitor and played the crysis demo @ 1900x1200, no aa all settings at high apart from shadows, shaders and post processing on medium with an 8800 gts 640 clocked @ 630/1500/2000 i was getting 20-40 fps but it always felt pretty smooth

Back on topic!!

Well define not much money? :) Nobody can run it on very high really but if you used modified configs you can get it looking pretty nice graphically and good fps ish!

£0 - £70 budget = impossible for what your after

£75 = pick up a second hand x1950xt as this will give "reasonable" performance on crysis.

£100-110 = second hand 8800gts 320mb - this should work well as long as your not going to use too high of a resolution.

£150-160 = brand new 8800gt territory once the prices come down again shortly. These cards are pretty good!

Cheers

Cheers for the help guys think I will sell my 7800GTX on a well known auction site and get a 880gts and overclock it.

Thanks for all the advice

Mike
