Hi,

Started on my amp install this afternoon. Ive decided id like to put a wooden panel at the side of the boot and have the amp mounted on the back of it so that it is hidden.

So far ive cut out a panel to the size required -

It does fit better than it looks, when the panel is pushed back as far as it can go its a very snug fit.

The problem i have is that my amp (JBL 75.4) is too deep to have the wood pushed back as far as it can go and mounted on the back so needs to be spaced, i have cut a bit of card a little depper than my jbl to show roughly how big a spacing i need.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i could space the panel securely in the position i need?

As you can see in the photo below i would also need to fill the gaps left around the edge so that the amp is out of sight. Anyone have any suggestions how i could do this as well?

Thanks a lot,

For an non-intrusive build, I would make a vertical support in this shape /| at the seats and then add a base underneath (so vertical support would need to be shorted to accommodate it. Then Al I would so is Velcro it to the boot carpet and seat.

Then all you need to do is add foam to hide the gaps and cover it in carpet or whatever.

That sounds a really good idea thanks. Will see if i can ***** some wooden battens from work tomorrow.

I like the idea of the foam. Any suggestions on where is the best place to get the foam? A fabric store i presume is best?

buy a 172 cup and put it in the wheel well ;)

Seriously though, why dont you mount it under the front passenger seat?

Lol funny you say that. I was only thinking earlier that if id bought a 172 i could have a sub in the wheel well, build a false floor and mount that amp under that.

TBH i think the amp i have is a little large to go under the drivers seat. its a pretty big amp. Will go have a trial fit in a min actually me thinks.
