I've got quite a few devices in my house and basically they can all see each other and I can navigate to any drive/folder I want on any device I want as long as I've shared them.
This means I have several devices that can see all my shared folders on my PC.
I'm trying a mates new Panasonic DMRHWT130 PVR and it has networking capabilities but even though it sees my PC I can't navigate into any shared folders, I just see this and all those directories are empty -

Any ideas why this device isn't seeing my PC like all my other devices?

off topic, if you record something from TV to this PVR, can you copy a program to USB hard drive so i can watch it at work with VLC player?

Try adding 'Everyone' user and give it Read access.

Depends how the share is set up tbh.

This is already done, like I said, I have at least 4 other devices that see everything on my PC

I haven't tried it but I believe you can.
You can setup a USB drive and put your recordings on it but I don't know the format yet.
I have another Satellite receiver (VU+ Solo2) that records in TS format.

Check the NTFS permissions are set with 'Everyone' to Read it too.

Check for an update to the TV software

Maybe you need to create a new path and folder for the DVR on the PC?

Does the PC see the DVR?

try and hook the dvr and the pc up together directly, maybe the pc will find all the drivers it needs, then move the dvr to it's network location and it could work?

Is there a usb on the dvr?

Looking at your screen shot of your network the devices under Media Devices will be DLNA devices are you sure the PVR is not just accessing the DLNA service on the NAS/VU+ Solo2 ?

I have had a quick scan of the manual for the PVR and it doesn't mention being able to access network shares only DLNA servers.

Going by the DLNA Client in the title of the option you are in and looking at the names of the shares it's listing they are matching the DLNA servers rather than network shares from your network devices screenshot, it looks like the PVR only supports DLNA shares.

is there a Panasonic DNLA software that needs to be installed on the PC then?

I have some Samsung devices here and Samsung do something called Allshare or Samsung Link now that needs to be installed to the server PC before it all gels

Windows Media Player supports DLNA, if you point it towards all your media files it will share them out to any DLNA compatible devices and transcode any formats they do not support assuming the correct codecs are on the PC.

You can get other DLNA server software for Windows, never really used DLNA for media sharing so couldn't tell you what DLNA server software is any good.

Samsung devices will more than likely support DLNA.
