A couple of days ago i posted my first attemp at Overclocking and got my cpu see sig to 3.6 and somehow had rqam on divider but i need help coz my pc froze a lot and wen i took it down to 3.4 it frozae for 1 sec every 10 mins or so when gaming, what have i done wrong i really wanna up my clock, my temps are using everest home idle 45 and load ~50 with arctic freezer which is pretty good for a p4 i think, anyway wen it was clocked temps maxed out at 57 wemn it was a 3.6 and 54/5 at 3.4 what have i done wrong?

oh yeh also im looking for about 3.6-3.7 my ram is Geil Value, how much volts do i put through it (processor i mean) and how do i do this properly, currently using easytune 5 for gigabyte mobos.

1. You really need to work in the Bios.
2. You need to lock down the PCI (33MHz) and PCIe (100MHz) clocks in the bios.
3. If you want the best from this board, then get DDR2 RAM, at least 533MHz. That will let you clock it up to 266FSB without a divider.
4. I personally wouldn't put any more than 0.025v extra into a 775 P4 - that's 2 clicks of 0.0125v, but if your temperatures are OK, then you may be able to go higher. Check the stepping with CPUz - if it's an E0 it should do 3.75GHz stable. Remember that over-volting the chip can damage it, so do this at your own risk.
4. You might need an extra click of voltage on the RAM.
5. The divider is controlled by the RAM Frequency selection - set it to 1.66 or 2.0, but dividers really don't work well with P4s, much better to get faster RAM.
