Above the original budget, but could bring it down by getting a cheaper board, knocking the CPU down the the 3100, and taking the GPU down, but the GPU makes the system what it is. Pointless wasting £40 on a terrible cooler, either spend £20 on a baisc tower air cooler, or use what is in the box.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 3.8 GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI B450M MORTAR MAX Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
Storage: Kingston A400 960 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB OC Video Card
Case: KOLINK STRONGHOLD ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: be quiet! System Power 9 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Total: ~£620.00

Edit: Oh.. I put in a 960GB SSD, because well you'll always need more room than 120GB.

Thanks yes he added a standard HDD which I didn't add as I thought SSDs are so cheap nowadays

He'll need thermal paste, and some case fans too and a copy of windows

Thermal paste is already on the box cooler, you can get really decent cases for between £35-50 with 3-4 or more 120 normal or RGB fans, and Windows costs £10 these days.

This one for example, very nice M-ATX case, great airflow, decent fans ~£50-60

Wow, is that from OCUK

What specifically? The case yes, the copy of OS no, but you'd be insane to buy Windows from any retail/online store. You only need to look at the offers in some computer magazines who themselves are doing it for £14.99 obviously some deal through MS.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £637.88 (includes shipping: £0.00)

You'll need to ask OCUK when the 3100 will be back in stock.

You could save some cash here and there, a SATA SSD, SP9 PSU, a cheaper case, 3000Mhz RAM etc.

500GB SSD should be enough to start him off with Fortnite and Minecraft, it's easy to add more storage down the line.

Cheaper version with some cost cutting:

Personally I'd spend the extra on the Konlink Citadel Mesh RGB case at the very least.

You might be better off going for an A520 motherboard for either build, but as of my writing this there aren't any in stock at OCUK within budget.

Stock cooler will be fine. CPU will have a thermal pad or paste with it. 2nd hand RX580 8GB graphics card for around a hundred. Don't pay more than £15 for windows key. Get a 1GB ssd with the savings.

10100 Vs overclocked 3100 to match 3300

Personally, that what ever that will allow RTX 2060 for Minecraft with ray tracing. Might have to hit the second hand market for GPUs end of the month ...
