Alrite people, so i have decided to splash out on a new rig, so i need your help as am a newbie here.

I will be using it for mainly gaming, eg Crisis, CoD 4/5, FM2009 n PES 2009 and the budget for this rig is £1250 for a full kit with monitor.

I have no experience with OCing but hope to learn..

1 Question: -

1) i7 920 is it any good for gaming as i wont be using it for any work (encoding, rendering), so will i be better of with a dual core

PS - i knw the case is abit over kill but i am thinking of upgrades for the future :)

Peace

for the list of games you've listed maybe think of going for the dual core 8500, gigabyte p45 mobo , 4gb of pc8500 memory, cooler like the tuniq tower, corsair 650w psu.

Morning,

I would go dual core if you are using it mainly for gaming, E8500 looks a good choice. Here's a good starting list with latest intel chipset, could go P45 or nforce 750i too depending on preference. I have left out the cooler as you would need to make sure that a chosen one fits the motherboard and case. Personally I would go for a Thermalright Ultra-120. Also you forgot a monitor so have selected a pretty good 24" as an example.
