Advice on Setting up & overclocking a Q9650 to 4gb on a P5N-T Delux

Hey Guys,

Just got all my parts together and built my new PC (Got Board of the XBOX) and I have noticed a few odd things BUT with me being new to Vista thought it would be best to put a post up on here to let the experts :P (Butt Kisser or WHAT) take a look and help me get the best out this rig:

CPU - Intel Quad Core 2 Q9650 3 Gig 1333 FSB (Running 1600 FSB for 3.6 Gig)

HS - ASUS Silent Knight II

MB - ASUS P5N-T Delux (Running 1306 BIOS)

RAM - OCZ Reaper DDR2 PC6400 X2 2 Gig Stick (Running 1066 Mhz)

GFX - Nvidia 8800 GT OC2 512 GDDR3 (stop gap card want the GTX285)

PSU - Hi Power 1000 Watt

Case - Cooler Master Cosmos S (With Side Window also X6 120mm Akasa Red Neon Fans)

SC - Onboard HD Audio (Sadly my XFI Extreme Gamer Card aint here yet Dam stockists)

HDD - 160GB IDE (Stop gap)

DVD - IDE DVDRW

LCD - ASUS 22" VH226 1080p Screen

SS - Logitech Z5500 5.1 ( :P WOW )

WC - Logitech Sphere Orbit AF

MS - Logitech MX Revalution

KB - Logitech G15

OS - Vista 32 Ultimate

Now I have the bios set up pretty much ok I THINK ... and my system is Very very stable, the ram is at 1066Mhz, FSB 1600 @ 3.6 GB X4 all ok for CPU

When I 1st built this rig I was using a ATI Radeon X850XT (barrowed) and everything was cool Bios showed I had 4 gig ram, windows also showed 4 gig BUT I no there is a limitation to 3 gig for 32 bit OS and my little App on my side bar showed this 3 gig and was idling around 800 to 1 gig with around 2 spare,
I flashed my bios to the 1402 bios and my system went lil nuts so I went back to 1306 and reset everything back up and thought whilst I was there I would slap in the nvidia card till I get my GTX285, my little app thing now shows 2557mb of ram ???? nothing I do changes this ???? any help appreciated

Thanks guys also smash away with the Q ill try answer them so you can get a clear picture :P

Hey guys can anyone help me as to where I am going wrong to achieve 4ghz ? thanks for your patients I have been reading up i can get to 1700fsb but seem to hit a wall after BSOD?

ok this is how i stand at the min

i dont use the AI stuff i ditched all that in the bios all volts are on auto and the fsb is 422.5 which gets me 1690 @ 3.8 gig ok

core volts on cpuz is 1.232

the ram is set to unlinked at 1066 i have ram setting on expert

ok been in the bios to get lil more info

*CPU Internal Therm Control = Disabled
*Limit CPUID MaxVal = Disabled
*Enhanced C1 State (C1E) = Disabled
*CPU C State Cap = Disabled
*Exe Disable Bit = Enabled
*Virt Tech = Enabled
*CPU Multiplier = 9.0
LDT = 5x

Changed the VCore Volts to 1.3000

also the ram is on a auto ratio so its not 1066Mhz lol but 1056Mhz that i can sort out

so guys is that all correct or have i missed something when reading the stickys on how to clock?

Have you stress tested it? "and my system is Very very stable" <- what's this based on.

It may well make 4gHz if it's managing 3.8 on 1.3v - I wouldn't advise pushing the voltage up much above 1.45, and watch your load temperatures.

well i have kept a eye on temps using real temp and its been on 3.6 ghz for around 6 month and never failed me and im always on it playing games or something to that effect so i can say that its stable at 3.6 ive had it on 3.8 today and its been solid ive been on crysis all day online and its not heated up much although system cool anyway also not crashed or any lil snags so i think if done right i could up a lil more to 4 ghz then stop in time i will swap over to liquid cooling the volts are on 1.3 everythign else is to auto so if i need to change this then i will but i been told that on a p5n t delux i couldnt get 4 ghz as the board aint the bes tto do it on was going to jump up to a asus stiker II NSE is it?
