Help With New Build

I dont think your allowed to ask on here how much you can get for parts, but just go to ebay and check it out.

+1 for going with a better monitor. You'll benefit more from that than with SSD (esp. in the type work your doing!)

For PSU Corsair 650W is a solid PSU for running multiple HDDs and a single graphics card. I wouldnt want to put two hight end graphics cards with that however it might struggle (esp with multiple HDDs in there too)

Depends on what your willing to spend. With cases i've found its pretty much personal preference.

I'm just in the process of finalising my first ever pc build and i'm gonna go with the CoolerMaster CM 690 (not sure exactly which exact one - Nvidia or Pure Black). Reason is they dont look too flash (well may the Nvidia does a little) and I dont want it too look like bloody christmas tree / UFO spaceship!!

...anyways was because theres plenty of clearance with gfx cards (will take all the biggest ones including the latest 5870 with room to spare) and its only a mid-tower so its not too heavy / bulky.

Go with something thats gonna have enough room for all your HDDs and more if you need to add some later.

Ideally...in my dreams i'd love a Corsair 800 case but cant justify £200 for a case (still paying back student loan) and having to move around its gonna be pain in the ***!

well like i said, i have an antec 900, thats a good size its just too bloody loud, not bothered about lighting the place up either, especially when trying to sleep witht he thing on ahah

If you want rapid loading times of files and applications then you go for an SSD. But if you're not bothered about that, the monitor is deffo the way to go. As 95thrifles said, once you've got all the files loaded and indexed in your chosen software, only your CPU and RAM will limit you. But seeing as it's an i7, you won't be limited (much).

Down to you now mate ;)

i hope the link works. if it were me i would be sensible and use gold edition ocz. i use them all the time, and no probs as yet. i've been looking to upgrade to 1600mhz recently with an amd version (lol) and was told it might be pricey and to save my money etc. my choice of timings would be 777 24 or 888 24.
you know the asus crosshair lll mobo has the new ati 790 fx (a 790 gx is available too) chipset. this double my cpu score as opposed to my old crosshair ll with the nvidia chipset. using the same 955 cpu. i hope that is correct. 155 gbp for the cpu i paid, but i also bought another am3 cpu, which was the 545 i think. a dual core, for 50 gbp (they have other versions of dual and triple cores. and these can be unlocked if you have the correct mobo. 3 gig for 50 quid basically. corsair make stonking psu's / tx850 or hx 850 (modular). bigger is better.
