I've had my current pc for around 3 years now, and I want to go next gen. I currently have q9660 and GTX 8800, It's time for a upgrade. So I'd like your guys advice on the best parts to buy at the moment, my budget is around 1000 pounds. Im out of touch with latest hardware

Computer will be used for gaming ( 2560x1600)
Internet
movies etc

would like a quiet machine if possible and a nice case with good airflow

would love your guys help
 
need more info of your current spec.

such as psu make and model, case, do you have a good dvd rewriter, do you have win7?

but with a Q9660, i think a simple graphics card and SSD/win7 upgrade would be good.

I would like a complete upgrade, I don't want to keep any old parts. I will build my brother a computer from my old parts, but yeah I will be using win7
 
do you mean a Q6600 or Q9650?

if it's the latter then I'd just get an SLI mobo plus a couple of 470's

edit: fair enough, get a i7 930 cheapest asus or gigabyte 6gbps mobo, cheapest 6GB memory set you can find, corsair ax750 or coolermaster gx750, coolermaster 690 II advanced plus a couple of 1GB GTX 460's
