Hello am new to these forums and am starting on new gaming build and aint done build for 2 years now and need little help.

My old build am using now that has dpne me good for ages and planed every game on max setting

Cpu Intel core2 quad Q8200 2.33ghz overclocked to 3.00ghz
Mobo Gigbyte P31 DS3L Socket 775 DDR2
Ram Corsair DDR2 2x 2gb - pc2 6400 400mhz
Graphics card EVGA Geforce 9800gt 1gb overclocked
720mhz GPU clock 1000mhz Memory 1800mhz Shader
PSU 550w (CANT REMEMBER MAKE BUT GOOD ONE)
Arctic frezzer pro 7 heatsink and loadz other fans

My new build i have got at mo is

Cpu Intel core i7 960 3.2ghz overclocked to 4ghz
Mobo Gigabyte G1 Killer Guerilla X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
RAM Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel
Cooler: Corsair A50 CPU Cooler
But i think gona go Corsair Hydro H60 or H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler.

What i need help with is what GPU should i go for i wona play max graphics on every mmo and games with out any problems but dont wona spend mega moeny just £150- 200

And will i be needing a better PSU or will 550w be ok.

Am planing on having a SSD hard drive for windows 7 and my hhd sata hard drive for the rest.

Any help will be greatfull

Regards
Kyle

just over budget but 3 free games http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-042-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752

also if you've not bought the cpu etc I suggest changing it to a sandybridge setup, for gaming the i2500k is the best cpu to get.

will you be wanting sli/xfire in future? if so you'll be wanting to upograde psu to a 750w, 550w will be fing for single card(unless you go 580) as long as long as its not a cheap/no brand one(corsair, antec, seasonic etc you'll be fine).

Thanks for reply.

I have allways chosen nvidia graphic cards never had ATI one before, and on all the ATI cards they seem to have more processors cores then the nvidia ones whys is this???

I was looking at getting a Corsair PSU in future as i really like the make prob round 750w to be safe.

And one other thing i dont know if any knows the answer but i have a genuine copy of windows 7 on my old build if i install this again on new build when have all the parts will it install and then when i put key will it say that be used and have to buy new key or will it appect it i cant seem to find the answer to that.

Thanks

is it an oem copy? what version home premium, professional, ultimate? if oem 32bit or 64bit?

even if it is oem tho you technically shouldn't use it on a new build you can.

aand no answer to question regarding have already bought the parts mentioned in the op? if so why?

I have the window home premium 64 bit installed at mo on this build and wont to re'use it but am not sure if i will have to buy new retail key again. am not sure if its oem version i have, i have a 32 bit and 64 bit version in my box when i get it???? does not say oem on it at all??

Yes i have the cpu and the mobo and ram at mo buying rest soon. am gona use the ram i listed first but then later upgade to some much better ones when i can get them.

I got this cpu because i read a lot reviewa that its ment to be good one and can get good results out of overclocking.

if it came in a 'box' with both 32bit and 64bit discs then it's a retail version, as long as you're not running it on 2/more computers at 1 time you can reuse the copy you have without having to purchase a new key.

I'm guessing you didn't read about i2500k before splashing out on old dead-end tech?

No i didnt read about that one at all as i have just got back intill building them again and trying to get up to what the new stuff and that.

And the one i have get to be way better than my one now. i can all way upgrage again in future :)

how much better is it ??/

Well what's done is done, oc it to 4ghz(tho you'll be wanting a better cooler than the a50 for that) and pair with a top end card and you'll be set for a couple years at least.

are you able to wait till after new years? new cards from both amd/ati and nvidia are due out, have read ati cards end of December not sure on nvidia.

Yeah i will prob go Corsair Hydro H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler and i was thinking bout just using my Evga 9800gt for now intill new cards come out and get really good one, i know the evga9800gt 1gb bit old now but plays every game with out any hip'ups.

And is it worth putting two cards in using SLI or just one dame good 1 :)

Thanks for all the help
