Help with new Desktop Please

I've just received my lovely new desktop today

but I've just plugged it all in and hit the power button.....

The unit powers up but on the monitor I'm getting loads of strange patterns and colors flashing

I've tried it first on my LCD then thought I'd try it on my old CRT but I get exactly the same display.

Anyone got an idea whats up please? :confused:

sounds like the gfx card isnt seated properly

it has an integrated gfx card, planning to upgrade at a later date.

do the "patterns and colours" appear after windows loads or during boot up?

If its happening before the OS is loaded it sounds like the integrated card, if it was after windows loads it could have been drivers etc

Maybe clear CMOS and see what happens, probably fault internal graphics card though yeah :/

do you have a reset cmos button on the mobo?, otherwise, just pop out the battery

I can see some CMOS jumpers near the battery but can't find a switch, if I take the battery out how long does it take for it to lose the settings?

i usually give it half an hour, when the pc is disconected from the mains and you have the cmos battery out the system, hit the pc power button to expell any stored electricity.

well I swapped the jumpers over first to clear but have now popped the battery out, fingers crossed it will sort problem.
