Okay so i dont really need any help as far as hard ware is concerned. in light of myself getting a new case i thought it would be a good idea to first sort out an aftermarket heatsink fan, and some ram sinks. i brought some thermaltake memory cooling sinks and this akasa cpu heatsink http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...1&name=Akasa AK-965 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
(ive never put on an after market heatsink/fan for the cpu before so i was careful but accidently got some on my finger, i went and washed it off completely, but will thermal paste harm me in any way?) i was also careful because this was a microatx motherboard and hopefully my new microatx case "the mini p180" so first i wanted to make sure that this cpu hsf would fit on my motherboard with out to much trouble which it did but in my current case its a bit tight and the 120mm fan overlaps so i had to get rid of that and as there is no cable mangement holes and pretty much oem layout and cooling isnt that great - 120mm fan exhaust and two 80mm fan intake  . ram sinks went on no problem. also im looking for a quiet case.

new case: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-100-AN

now i want to make sure before i order the case that i can get everything running smoothly so im looking for a way to test that my new ram sinks/cpu hsf is working fine. at the moment im running stock as my current motherboard is rather poor for overclocking and i may always get something along the lines of this in the future: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

okay sorry for all that ^^

i wont post pics right now as im trying to benchmark/test using 3dmark 06 and pcmark 05, ive run both programs 5 times. is this enough to test my new stuff is working fine ? i had to slow down my cpu fan as that was noisy so i went from 100% to 60% in speed fan - but how can i make sure i keep this amount after i reboot ? right now im running stock clocks on cpu and my 3dmark 06/pc mark 05 scores are pretty much the same and only changing slightly (100points max) so it seems to be working fine. my temps for cpu are 27c idle and 42c load (thats without decent cooling and the 120mm exhaust fan-im sure my new case would be miles better)

so sorry for the long read :( but i just want to make sure before im "in the clear". regarding ram, whats the best way to check that. however the ram has ran fine without any additional cooling for more than a year so i cant see adding heatsinks could make it worse.

intel cpu stock cooler 40c idle 60c load
new cooler 27c idle 42c load

right , scrap all that , fixed the fan speed in a bios setting. and was reading mobo manual and found out why my back usb ports werent working , they were in 1.1 mode only rather than 2.0 :o *looking like a tool scratching my head about that problem as well*

right so all i need now is a good way to test it, all 3dmark/pcmark has been fine, going on to some games. one problem with ram is that it looks a bit close together, and the clips used to i guess hold the sinks together would not fit well so not a tight enough fit ... do you think the thermaltake thermal paste will hold them on
