Hi folks,
Im new on these Forums (So be nice
) and was wondering you you guys could help me out with some quick questions regarding my new PC from Overclockers?
Im an old school pc enthusiast, yet after my last major build (6 years ago) my pc which was amazing at the time... has been absolutely pants for the past 2 years. I then (after some peer pressure and bullying from friends) against my better judgement got myself an xbox 360. Which was great at the time.... but I missed pc gaming, and all the extras and benefits the platform offers.
So.... after much deliberation I ordered myself the Ultima Eliminator package from overclockers. Being out of touch with new hardware I wasnt up to the challenge of building the pc from scratch... so took the easy (lazy) option of opting for a pakage deal. (where did AGP go?)
Ive also never dabbled with overclocking, yet it has always been of interest to me, so again, I took the easy option as this package is pre setup and overclocked to 4ghz. and this is where my questions arise (sorry for the life story).
1. In honesty ive just been in awe of the computer and ive been generally too scared to change settings / tamper with things to much just incase I do something wrong. Is there any way I can tell that the cpu is overclocked to 4ghz? when im in windows everything I can find just tells me the cpu is an intel i7 920 at 2.66.
2. The memory that comes with the package is 6gig of 1600 Ram, yet on the system startup (the first bios screen) it detects 6gig of ram running at 1066. Should this not be 1600?
3. Ive installed windows 7 (perhaps a mistake), the latest nvidia drivers for the geforce 295, the motherboard drivers from the gigabyte ud5 CD (some applications didnt work with windows 7). is there any other software / applications / tools I can install to make sure I am getting the most out of the new PC. Not that I doubt overclockers machine in any way, its just that I feel like a lay man all over again as I am out of touch so much. Anything that could help would be greatly appreciated!
The key components of the machine are:
:- Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz Overclocked to 4.00GHz!
:- 6GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600MHz Tri-Channel RAM
:- 1TB Seagate 7200RPM Hard Drive
:- Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 1792MB Graphics Card
Any and all help / info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your time.
