Hello all,

im looking to get a new SFF pc built over August and just looking around at whats on the market, sadly i have lost touch with with mobo's and cpu's!

my current rig is plenty fast enough, but im really bottle necked with having to have a single slot graphic card.

im a very big shuttle fan and have been using them for best part of 10 years, however im well aware over the last few years lots of other SFF pc's shells and motherboards have come out. so would be intrastate in them.

At present im learning towards the SH67H3 shuttle.

Any advise or thoughts would be welcome.

i was looking at the sh67h3, but in the end opted to build me own purely based on the fact it'd be cheaper and i'd be able to get a better power supply with it.
I meself have gone for a silverstone sg05 but with the 450 watt power supply. They're a bit smaller than a shuttle but can fit in a regular sized graphics card that's also double slot.
For comparison, the shuttle you're looking at is around £235 new- you can get a case and power supply that's smaller (albeit not QUITE as good quality) and an h67 motherboard for around £165- and that's with a beffier psu too :). If you're interested I'll probably make a thread for my build later in the week as the stuff arrives!
*another edit* I had a sn78sh7 too :D Sold it just this week. Didn't think it was worth keeping hold of after i upgraded to a phenom 965 and 5770 a year back.

yeah would like to see that thread mate, and yeah im open to other options to shuttle. the phenom 965 is plenty poweful for what i do and with a SSD its lighting quick. its just the limitations of a single slot gcard that hold me back, and will want to be able to run BF3 when it comes, also 4gb memory is fine but again, that is max and if i built a new pc i would be looking for 8gb and with the view of upgrading that if need be.

Zotac Z68 ITX
i5-2500k
8GB RAM (2x4GB)
580/6970 or 590/6990 depending how flush you feel.
SSD
HDD
H50/AXP-140 cooler

Put it all in an SG07, job done.

That would be optimal and its what I am working my way towards.
All depends on your budget and other needs. I have a 1TB HDD for just my games atm but what with the way this summer sale is going I forsee me needing a 2TB after the Christmas sales.
SG08 is a cleaner looking SG07 with USB3.0 front ports and should be out September if you can wait.

nice... still undecided on what to do, will do some googling!

so how much do you reckon that setup cost you (if u dont mind me asking)

errrm probably a fair amount.

Z68 ITX £120?
i5-2500K £170
RAM £70
6970/580 £250/350
120GB SSD £180
1/2TB HDD £60/120
Cooler £50
Case £150????

So about £1000-1200 but this is going to be silly power in a tiny case. No dual GPU card for me though as its too much hasstle and money and I only have one monitor at 1920x1080 so one GPU should be ok for now. Hoping to get the i5 to 4.5 GHz.

And who said SFF had to be low power? :D

edit: Also been looking at getting a different PSU from the stock one in the SG07/08. I really like the look of the FSP Aurum 600/700. 80+ Gold certified very well reviewed and its 150x140x86mm so actually fits in the case. I'll also be modding the cablesso that I only have the cables I will be using and I will shorten the cables too to better fit the case. That will add about £100-120 and I also bought a slimline BR-ROM drive that was £80...damn when you add that all up thats a hell of a lot more money than I thought.

cheers for the info mate, i like the slimline drive option on the SG range, shame shuttle have not gone down that route.

the sg08 looks ace! if you have the cash/patience that'd be a v good bet :)
I've gone for:
Sg05-450: £95
ASRock H67M-ITX: £69
Intel i5 2500k: £147 (VERY lucky to get it for so cheap!)
Corsair XMS3 8gb DDr3: £48
Western Digital 500gb Sata III HD: £29
Samsung DVD RW Slot Drive: £24
EVGA GTX 560 TI: £174
A CPU Cooler (dunno what yet!): £25

Comes in at a shade over £600 , but i'll need to add a copy of windows and a new monitor on top
