Hi, decided to finally upgrade my 3 year old system which has the following.
AMD 3000
Radeon X800
1 Gig Ram
200 gig IDE Hard Drive
Antec P160 Case
Samsung 19" Monitor
XP

The only thing I will be keeping is the monitor and I will pick up a mouse/keyboard/speakers no problem.
I'm looking for a decent spec machine which will run Vista in all it's glory, surf the net and play the odd game or two. Not fussy for any overclocking but it would be a bonus if it run quiet.

I have a budget of around £700, any help would be great.

Thanks

came up with the following, you'll need to get confirmation that the cooler can fit in you're case, if you need a low profile cooler i use the Thermalright MST-9775LE Heatsink and it cools fine + fairly quiet.

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775) £26.99 (£31.71)

PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro AC Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £81.99 (£96.34)

Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £77.99 (£91.64)

Samsung SpinPoint T HD160HJ 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM £28.99 (£34.06)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £109.99
(£129.24)

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ) £149.99 (£176.24)

Sub Total : £475.94
Shipping : £8.95
VAT : £84.86
Total : £569.75

Thanks, I have placed this spec together, does it look ok ? I presume everything would be compatable. Would I also require extra cooling bearing in mind I will not be overclocking at this time.

Thanks again.

should be ok with the standard cooling if you're not overclocking for the time being.

i'd swap the hard drive for this :
Western Digital Caviar SE16 400GB 4000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache

more space and the aaks series seem to be very decent.

need to get confirmation that the GTS will fit in that case.
