My graphics card (4870 1GB) has just thrown in the towel, so its time to get a new one and upgrade the rest of my PC too. I am still running an E6600 processor (please dont laugh!) with 8GB DDR2 ram. Time to say bye-bye.

I have a Corsair 620 modular PSU, and a LianLi 7 case, both of which I am hoping will be fine. I have a 1TB hard drive, which is fine for now, although I would like to get an SSD if possible. I have a 22" monitor, although I'd like to get dual 24" at some point.

I use the PC mostly for work (web development, running DB's, sometimes virtualisation) and some gaming (WoW, SC2, maybe Dishonoured, etc). Graphics card doesn't have to be awesome - just "good enough" is fine.

So, basically, I need:
- new mobo
- new cpu
- new ram (8GB should be enough, 16GB would be nice),
- new graphics card
- would be nice - SSD (128gb)

I'm hoping for £350 - not sure if thats realistic or not.

Thanks for the response everyone.

I guess if I am looking to cut some corners, then I'd have to cut back on the CPU (perhaps i3 3220) and the graphics card. SSD just seems to be massive bang-for-buck performance increase.

Decisions, decisions.

OK, that looks pretty good!

Only concern with that graphics card is that some reviews for the 7870 version seem to think that its very noisy
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_radeon_hd_7870_twinfrozr_iii_oc_review,23.html. Which is surprising, as all the reviews on the OC page say how quiet it is - is this because its a 7850 version?

It might just have been a fault with that particular card. I have two Twin Frozr cards in my system and i would`nt say they were noisy, even under full load.
