Help with new specs

Howdy, Me and my brother's PC's are getting on and they are struggling in the latest games and it's time for an upgrade.

The first PC has a budget of £580, some part's will be coming over from previous computer but a lot needs to be changed, it's going to stay on XP.

I'm unsure about the motherboard.

The second PC has a budget of £880, again some part's will be coming over. I currently have a Raptor 74gb and it's a couple of years old now, I'm guessing the new Raptor will be able to work in raid with it?

Thanks for the reply. I went with the x38 because I thought it would be more future proof as it supports the new Intel processors and 2.0 PCI.

The ATI card was because the motherboard is crossfire and I figure it will be closer then it is now with some proper drivers and because of the budget.

Also I think I might have heard that ATI have more features for playback? Video features?, or something along those lines, is that correct?

I currently have a 250gb for storage and it's got a good 100gb free, I was going for the raptor because I thought it might speed things up
